Hey,

My jetta 3's aircon isn't what it used to be, and I think it needs a regas. Have any of you had this done to your car recently? Anyone know of a good place I can go to in Cape Town to have it done?

Thanks :)

Highly recommend Titan Auto Electric, in Sea Point. Did my old car there about a year and a half ago, and Bradley the owner has always been extremely helpful and friendly.

They're located at the Total Service Station that's been there for a million years.

Not sure if everywhere does this, but their gas has also has a UV dye inside it, which shows up any leaks in the system (assuming it's leaking).

HOw do leaks get fixed? I have a leak just where the pipe connects with the compressor...what they did was pump pressure into the whole system and start spraying with water all the joints and connections, an air leak will show bubbles whereever the leak is, but how does one fix this as all the gas or whatever is out and regassing it for the hot summer will not suffice as it will only escape again

There are a few good videos on youtube explaining how - if you have bandwidth.

 Can't believe people still go to dealerships.

I know... horrible.

and yet.. my Aircon works perfectly, as does my climate control, and everything else in the car :)

and yes its not cheap, but i know its done right, and if its not i have an excuse to jump up and down and throw a tantrum till it is. I would pay for that alone :)

Once I had an aircon compressor replaced, and they broke something else while doing it. all i got was a phone call saying what they had done, and that they would repair it at no charge and give me another car to drive because they wouldnt finish that same day.

now u tell me how many "budget" garages on street corners would have done that?

How much for a refill and can I do the leak repair myself? I've searched endlessly on forums and Google but they only show how to repair leaks with special kitts.

I know exactly where the leak is as I've had it tested a couple of months ago, I'll have it pressure tested again before i do the leak repair and refill.

The leak is at the O-ring...aparently this is a normal and common leak in aircon's and all you need to do is replace the O-ring or patch it up. What is strong enough to keep it patced up?
