Hey guys, i have a MTN data contract that is R299 per month offering 3 gigs data and then uncapped with 2mbps speed, but after the 3gigs are up the speed throttles down to 0.25mbps!!! ( that is the worst ). I can't do nothing really!.

So now i'm looking for something that offers uncapped data at at least R300 per a month is fine, ( i cant use ADSL because it will be even more expensive and we use a prepaid phone line).

i was thinking about the 10 gigs+10gigs from 8ta/telkom but its not uncapped :( and there is free wifi but then only when you near a telkom shop you can use it :o ( i find this really dumb).

anyone have any good suggestions??

You won't find unthrottled uncapped on anything wireless.

I need a good deal though, can't find any thing. something that is around R300 and does not require ADSL

yes LTE is supported here, i saw a nice deal where by you get 10 GIGS + 10 GIGS of data and FREE UNCAPPED WiFi , im looking for uncapped and this sounded good but then i emailed them and they said "Wifi Can only be used by the store" seriously now?? :/

Yes, they were serious.
And by free they mean limited.
 
Lol yeah, i figured that now.
i don't think there are any uncapped 3G deals now :/
 
@mike is there a package there that is Uncapped and not adsl?
 
Not really uncapped. Oob applies, but very reasonable nonetheless. MTN coverage with LTE as well in some spots. Month to month payment, no locked in contract.

to be honest i dont think im going to find uncapped data at like R300
but im afraid that 20 gigs a month wont be enough , as i like to download even movies although now i have a **** speed of 0.25mbps which im suprised i can even open a web page lol.

Your choice, but you are stuck on that deal for 2 years. I would rather pick afrihost, can only get 5GB for the same price, but Data should become cheaper, so afrihost will allow you to change the provider next month. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Sure you have coverage in your area? Also, that 15+15 gig deal is once again a 2 year contract. I will repeat myself again, avoid 2 year contracts if you can, cheap in the beginning but 90% of the time more expensive in the long term. Also, the ability to leave a company due to bad service is an extremely valuable deal.
 
Guess i will wait then for an uncapped deal, which wont be anytime soon though :/
 
I think your best solution would be to keep the MTN deal for your downloads even though its throttle and then just get a prepaid sim for your browsing and stuff.

If you do MTN prepaid data right you can keep the bought data without it expiring for more than 60days.
 
I understand what you mean Cave, although can you imagine having "0.25mbps" and taking like 20 minutes to download a 2mb file???
its really bad, i mean i like that fact that its "uncapped" but i just think the speed is ridiculous.
 
Yes but there is really NOTHING else in the market that would even come close to that offering. MTN even noticed this and discontinued the package. There is no other option. Its that or pay per gig for your data and pay 10x what you are paying for your current package.

Go for the 8ta R1800 60GB+60GB package then. Its the best priced package or Cellc Giga 200 with 50GB peak and 150GB off peak for download with a once off price of R1799 http://www.cellc.co.za/giganite

That is the best prices you will get end of story I'm afraid.

Get LTE device and then you would at least have 0.25Mbps with low latency for gaming.. I still think its the best package OUT there. R299 for 3GB data and uncapped 0.25Mbps after the 3GB is a good deal for mobile data.
