Need new mobile phone

It's time I retired my current phone, a very old HTC Hero which I got about 7 years ago, running Android 2.1 (perhaps donate it to a museum? :erm: )

I need to buy a phone with a large-ish screen, minimum 5", as my eyes are a lot older than the old phone. I would prefer Android OS, or maybe a Windows / Lumia phone, capable of taking the upcoming Win 10 OS update

I will buy outright, no contract and will pay will pay for it with cash or CC, and use pre-paid airtime & data

The dorp I live in has CellC, and MTN, and Vodacom stores, but their prices are high, and their staff not that knowledgeable.

I looked at the ORANGE web store, but I have read here on MyBB of a couple of bad online shopping experiences at Orange.

What other on-line shops, and suitable phones, can be recommended?

The quality of the phone camera is not that important, but it should have a front, and rear, camera, to use with Skype, via a wi-fi connection, and take the odd photo when I don't have my DSLR at hand.
 
I would use Orange. They might take a while to deliver if they don't have stock at hand, but you'll get your phone eventually.

How much are you willing to spend? Are you looking at top end phones?

Willing to spend around R 3000 - R 4000 max

Thanks for the reassurance. I get most "wanted" stuff online, and then couriered to me anyway, as not much is available off the shelf where I live
 
Another question I meant to ask .. I see many phones now have NON-removable batteries. If the battery packs up, how does one replace it
 
Is the price of just over R3500 correct. That is a excellent price for a very decent phone. Rather get one of these than pay nearly twice that much for a Galaxy A5.

That is a non-issue for most people, as they replace their phones after 2 years in any case. The original battery should maybe last up till 2.5 or 3 years, but you'll be able to tell that the capacity is shrinking.

As far as I know, people don't often attempt to replace the batteries on these phones, but I'm sure it is possible with eBay and some know-how. You're probable wondering if service centers in SA does this? I wouldn't bet on it.
