I'm have a very old laptop that I'm trying to resuscitate and in order to do that it needs a bit of help.

The patient: Compaq N1050v

I'm looking for some old laptop memory, PC2100 DDR laptop memory. If someone could help me to get hold of a 1Gb stick I would greatly appreciate it.

Any old laptop parts will actually do if you are willing to part with them, if I could get a little larger hdd (currently 30Gb) it would also help a bit to extend its life a bit.

You weren't kidding when you said very old. It takes DDR1 modules :(

If you're using it on a daily basis you'd be much better off with a new entry level laptop for about R3k.

Nope, not using it on a daily basis at all, but I cannot get it over my heart to dump this on a landfill somewhere when it still works perfectly.

I was thinking of maybe giving it a bit of a boost, as much as I can (cue Star Trek reference...) and giving it to the kids to do the odd job/movie on it.

It's got a DVD drive so it will work as a mini media center, although limited in specs.

Recycle !

You can come pick up a 80GB hard drive from me for R200, still in perfect working order. I've got some laptop ram lying around but I doubt it is DDR1. :(

Update: Sorry it's 512MB PC2-5300
