Hi all,

Need 2 new APs with AC, 2.4Ghz/5Ghz bands and don't want to break a bank to get them, any recommendations?

Basically going to have the following;

Modem->Firewall->Switch1->Switch2->AP1 + AP2 over cat5E
This is for a really /long/ house so should I consider directional antennas?

Please and thanks<3

ubiquiti unifi APs are the absolute best and give the least amount of problems, although if you want the AC version it will be far more expensive than what you want to pay.

If you find a cheap AC capable AP that works, I am very interested to know about it as well!

tp link wa5210g

They like R600, including a POE.

I used one as an AP with a mikrotik router (mounted outside).

After about 6 months its still going strong. It has about 5-8 concurrent connections, range about 30-50m directional.

Also, it didnt take too much of a beating against the elements.

I got a TP-Link Archer C7 last week (on the black friday deal!! :D thanks kernel!).
This AP works really well and is insanely quick. It's a AC dual band AP with some really awesome features on the software that can allow you to tweak and configure it. I have a similar setup to you, so this would work pretty well.

I'd highly recommend it. :) If you want to know more, let me know and I'll be happy to give you some details.

1 question. how many users will be connected to an AP at any given time.

thanks for the awesome recommendations guys!

Pm me if you need help setting up configuring etc.

I don't mind helping
