Hi guys
I need some advice please, a colleague bought a vehicle through a buddy of his for a good price, was done through one of these private dealerships in Pretoria.
The car is a low km fiesta. He was informed that the car had been in a small accident but that everything had been fixed up to spec. He also purchased an extended warranty through MFC as part of the deal, seeing as the original Ford warranty was still intact they just sent the contract and all was sorted.
He has been driving the car for 8 months and the car has been for a service at Ford. Last week Friday the head popped while he was on the highway, the car was taken straight to Ford and the damages amount to ~R25 000.
Ford told him that they unfortunately have to scrap the warranty as the car had obviously been in a major smash and it was't reported on their books and the workmanship was of a very poor standard. To the extent that the air-bags hadn't been replaced and the warnings bypassed not to show in the console.
He wants his money back from the dealers but they don't seem keen on any kind of refund.
He has learned his lesson about buying from buddies without due diligence but he is in a real jam at the moment.
If anyone has some good advice it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
