Hey

I bought tiger woods 2009 last week and tried playing it last night and i get a "disc is unreadable" error, after closely inspecting the disc i found a long scratch near the edge of the disc :( , the game was put into my xbox and has not been removed so theres no way i coulda scratched it so bad , also none of my other titles have damage like that so i doubt its my console thats caused it.

Is there any chance of returning it to the store and getting an exchange or will they just blame me for damaging the game? , please if anyone has had a similar experience please advise me.

thanks

Take it back to the store and see if you can wangle a replacement copy. If that fails see if any local DVD/Video rental places will buff the disc for you (although I suspect that if the scratch is deep enough to cause a "disc unreadable" error it might not work)

If that doesnt work send it for scratch repair. DVD movie rental chains usually have a rather expensive machine that does a brilliant job.

I kicked my X360 accidentally and a copy of Gears1 was ruined as a result. Thought it was beyond repair and used it as a coffee mug coaster for approx 3-4 weeks. *serious*

Sent it for repair (R30) and now its working and looks better than brand new!

Bought a brand new GTA4. Same issue..disc read error..took it out of the 360 and saw it actually had a crack from the center to the edge of the disc(did I mention this game was bought brand new for R730) Took it back..no issue..they swapped it.Thanx ZAPS

LEt me just say this.....toothpaste, when your disc is not readable, toothpaste the sucker (normal toothpaste, not the granular or other whitening stuff).

Trust me, happend to my DOA 4, toothpasted it, and its been working without an issue ever since

Wow. Thats pretty awesome.

It's like finding R20 in your pocket!!

Unfortunately none of the video stores in this town have the cd buffer so i tried mr min and it worked like a charm!, i think the toothpaste could also work as we used to use it on our scuba goggles to keep em from misting up.

thanks for the help guys!

Wicked Ideas !

Step 1: Locate the scratch on the disc...and say something like &#*^!!!!

Step 2: Grab some Brasso cleaner and gently rub all over the read side of the disc. (Focus mostly on the scratch/scrathes)

Step 3: Remove excess Brasso with clean lint free cloth

Step 4: Grab some window cleaner and use a small amount to give the disc a last overall cleanup...make sure it's nice and dry and then...

Step 5: say something like &#*^ yeah! it's working again :p

Works everytime ;)
