Need some BIS advice for Seaview Durban

Sorry to post this here but since my question is about Vodacom AND MTN I wasn't sure which broadband forum to discuss this in. I'm currently using a BlackBerry 9720 on prepaid Cell C and the BIS signal is atrocious! I want to move over to one of the others but I'm not sure which one is the best for my area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I apologise for not posting this in the correct place. Thanks!
 
From actually being on a few networks in Durban, MTN is decent and Vodacom is a bit dodge in certain areas especially on the outlying areas.
 
All depends where you are in seaview , there is a vodacom tower in the seaview school yard and one in the rossburgh exchange.

Then I should be good with Vodacom cuz I'm in the Hillside Road area. Thanks everyone for the input!

Still not really useful..

Which Hillside Road area are you refering to?

The one in Durban South, the one in Pinetown, the one in Westville?

They will all have vastly different signal characteristics.
 
Missed the point of you saying you stay in SeaView.... apologies...

There are a few Hillside Roads in DBN...

I would be wary of just jumping ship to another network without at least testing it somewhat before hand.... that section of durban is quite hilly, so could play havoc with cell signal... also its very populated so could also be an issue if you're far from the towers.
 
Mtn is the best not 100% all the time but much better than Vodacom and most of the rest are using Vodacom's network
 
Yeah I've had Cell C for a while now and it's like my house is a signal Black Hole! You can literally watch how the BB cycles through the different signals. I also have a MTN contact phone (too heavy on data to use much) and that doesn't cycle half as much, if at all. But I had a BB on that number before and the signal was also not the greatest but definitely better than now. I'm hoping the fact that I can see the Vodacom tower from my bedroom window means the signal will be good?

Not necessarily.. they do a fair chunk of beam forming, so you may not be being served by the tower that you can phyiscally see.
