Need some help accessing file.

Someone just brought me a hardrive from a laptop where the windows crashed. I can access most files but I need to get to the e-mails and access is denied.

He had a login password on the machine and thats what is giving me troubles.

Tried putting the drive in another lappie but safemode doesn't even want to start up.

He has Vista on the drive.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to take ownership of the folders before you can access them. Right click on folder > Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner tab > Edit > "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".

Should do the trick.
