Ok, so we have a Telkom account here at home and when using the Telkom account, Outlook sending and receiving mail works fine while using pop3.telkomsa.net and smtp.saix.net.

Problem now is that the Telkom cap and I cant surf the net, so I've changed to my username and password in 10.0.0.2 to my Afrihost account. Now I can surf the net and I can still receive mail in Outlook but cannot SEND mail.

I've done some research and discovered that this is due to the smtp server only accepting / sending mail from their own accounts (ie when Im connected to the net with my Telkom username and password)

My question is, how do I set it up that I can be connected to the internet so I can surf the web using my Afrihost account, but still be able to send email via Outlook via my Telkom account?

I've tried all these different smtp servers with no luck:
smtp.adsl.telkomsa.net
smtp.telkomsa.net
smtp.saix.net
smtp.saix.co.za
smtp.adsl24.co.za

I've tried setting the outgoing mail so it requires Authentication and putting my Telkom user and pass in there. Maybe changing the ports?

I donno.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

and I worked it out as I posted this forum.

I just changed the smtp settings in outlook to

smtp.afrihost.co.za

and it works...

Telkom doesn't support SMTP Relay so whenever you change your details to another ISP you have to change your server settings too...Telkom make everything a hassle for you lol

- not accurate!

Telkom settings:

Email address = [email protected]
Incoming = pop3.telkomsa.net
Outgoing = smtp.saix.net / smtp.telkomsa.net / smtp.dsl.telkomsa.net or your isp's smtp address
Username = [email protected]

Outgoing Server Tab - enable authentication
Log on using = [email protected]

Important
Ensure that you mail account has been activated by Telkom.
