Hey,

We are using a dev company to create an App for us. Nothing major, is quite straight forward in terms of requirements so we opted for PhoneGap. Our company bought a developer license from Apple so we could submit the App to the iStore (iPads are are primary target for now, then Android tabs).

I'm a developer myself...but web-based, so dont know anything about the submission process besides that PhoneGap allows you to build for a range of platforms and you can submit as needed.

The developer now says he cant submit to the iStore as our iOS key is locked. He also says he has never encountered this before and does not know how to fix it. So I searched Google and found some resources about unlocking it....he says none have worked.

Naturally my company is getting a pee'd off as the App is now 3 months behind. So I thought...ok, while this gets sorted...lets release to Android Tabs. He says he cant because it builds the release for iOS first...and because there is an error with the iOS key being locked...the others cant be submitted.

My first thought was WTF? So PhoneGap builds have to be done for every platform sequentially, and if one fails...you cant submit the others? He then said...he removed the iOS build...and then he could release to Android.

So my questions:

1. Is this guy talking BS, does PhoneGap really work this way?
2. Anyone come across a locked iOS key issue? If so...any tips on how to fix this?

Cheers

When you compile to each platform you get separate packages created for the platform you compile to. He is using an excuse when he says Android is dependent on the iStore.

If you have paid him request the source code. You could also try submitting the app yourself since it is your companies' account.

He is talking ***, you can change the build target at anytime. I suspect he was loafing and your app is no where close to ready.

Our company has submitted a lot of apps to both Google Play and Apple App Store. We have a few phonegap apps and I can't see why not being able to submit the iOS app can stop the Android app being submitted. Also I have never heard of a "iOS key is locked" issue before. If you can login to the developer ios provisioning portal and create a distribution certificate, app id and a distribution provisioning profile for the app id. Then login to iTunesconnect and see if you can add a new app. If you can do all of these then there is nothing stopping you from uploading ios app to the store. If you get stuck doing these steps then post screen shots.

^ this ...

no build is dependent on another. he can even build on his own machine if he's half the mobile developer he claims to be.

Thanks for the replies guys, and this is what I was thinking too. :( He is a local guy from Joburg.

Hmm...got some ideas now to test with, thanks for the input!!! :D Will try get the source code, have the details for the Apple dev license.
