This is my current setup. The billion is running routed.

..............................Webafrica 5GB Shaped / 1GB Unshaped

.......... Linksys SPA3000----- billion 7202g ----wireless----laptop
..........................................|........|
..........................................|........|
.......................................PC1...Switch
...............................................|......|
...............................................|......|
.............................................PC2...TIVO

Here is the problem. I want to use the linksys spa 3000 as my primary outgoing line, with a voipdiscount.com account. This works very well, except if telkoms shaping kicks in. So currently i manually log into the billion and change the account from the WA shaped to the unshaped before calling. This is a pain in the arse and of course i always forget to change it back again.

I thought prehaps of getting a telkom 4 gb unshaped acc but at 650 odd bucks cant justify it. ( anyone using this account - how much are you getting before being capped??).

So i wondered could i put the billion into bridged mode and put a ipcop / smoothwall box up for the routing. Can ipcop / smoothwall run two pppoe connections at the same time and i would then just use two different gateway IP for the shaped / unshaped accounts.

Any other ideas.

Hi,

I use 2x IPCop pcs - one just forward traffic to the other... Two PPPoE connections is not possible on one IPCop box though... Otherwise you can use MikroTik - it supports multiple PPPoE connections on the same interface

multiple pppoe is definitely possible on any linux based box ie. ipcop aswell.. Just need to configure the pppoe:devicename in ur ppp.conf if you have multiple devices and then create the specific adsl account under each of the device.
