Hey guys,
Got a rather odd laptop mystery I was hoping someone could help me with.
My girlfriend has one of the new Sony Vaio (S-series I think). We are both living in Korea at the moment and we bought it here. She's only had it for a little over a month (its one of the new ones with a Core i3 and DDR3 memory, etc).
The problem is the screen brightness. It's not dark, its just... dim. The way a laptop looks when its running on batteries, thats how it looks when its plugged in. I've adjusted all the power saver settings in windows, no change. I've pressed Fn + F5 to toggle up the brightness, but the bar moves up and down and no change in brightness (less or more).
When the computer boots into windows, it goes bright for a few seconds, and then it goes back to being dim. If the screen goes to sleep, when you wake it up again it goes bright for a couple of seconds, then goes dim again.
Is this a hardware or a software problem? Should we take it back? Any help on this frustrating problem would be very, very much appreciated.
