One of my clients ADSL has been down since last week wednesday when a car drove into some Telkom stuff in Hatfield, Im looking for a temporary broadband connection solution, can any one suggest a short term connectivety solution that I could implement quickly?

I was thinking iburst but the cost of the modem is what, R2000? What about some 3G package? How much do the modems cost? We dont have problem spending money on the bandwidth, just dont want expensive useless hardware...

Its a 16 person business. The irony is the business it moving to a new premises in 9 days time without any ADSL problems having been had in 3 and a half years...

Wow, that's a big mouthful. SSB, give MTN a call, I would have said Voda at first thought, but my hunch is that MTN will be able to sort you out faster that you can say connect ;)

You basically need a 3G capable handset to be able to get internet access, but I'm sure you'd like more people than one to be able to use it, so they'll probably let you rent a 3G card of somekind. You can then (through some intensive googling) set up internet connection sharing on all the pc's, if they are networked. Myadsl users should be able to lend a hand too.

Sorry to be silly, but look for the relevant contact info on www.mtn.co.za

Ciao ;)

I can set up internet connection sharing with my eyes closed and yes they are networks, luckily there are notebooks so we can use PCMCIA (now called PC cards) cards for connectivity...

Seems MTN doesnt have a MTN Connect store in pretoria eastern area, dont they like money? cause this is where the more affluent people are...

Cool, glad you're up to it ;) Just give them a call, see what they say, maybe iburst could offer a temp solution as well?

MTN aitn getting my business. Vodacom has a 24 hours (tool free for vadocom users) line about this stuff, phoned them got all the answers...

MTN must dislike money with their mankey useless site and all...

I would have gone with MTN, just personal preference, Voda and the Meerkat make me angry :p

Supersunbird, I got a spare IBURSt lying around that you can have for a couple of days.
Give me a ring on ######, our offices are in Schoeman street, probably just around the corner of your customer!!

#### Pm 'ed you the number

That's extremely gracious of you. I'd just edit that number out and send SSB an email or private message, you never know who lurks around, looking to spam your phone ;)

Thank you for the offer, but im already on 2GB bundle and on EDGE with a USB cable to my clients PC network.

Really took one phone call, visit to Vodashop in Menlyn for USB cable, buying R414 and then one SMS to set it up...

Does MTN even have a 24hour nr for these things? I phoned Vodacom at 10pm last night, pressed # like i was prompted to and they called me back 5 minutes later. Great service if you ask me...
