Hey Friends

I need a windows software solution to help me :

i've got a farmer - with 9 pcs in his office. he uses telkom spacestream express - so all the traffic runs to a central gateway unit.

is there a way that i can detect which IP transmits/receives how many data per day....that is the primary requirement

it would also be nice as additional feature to see what exactly each IP did do on the net.

no servers,domains/A.D. - just a simple p2p network and a gilat gateway for the spacestream..

any ideas?

thx.

install a dedicated proxy/firewall like IPcop and run Ntop on it
there are many other solutions. smoothwall, monowall.....

Smoothwall have a Bandview PACK mod with which you can monitor bandwidth used per IP.

Plus you can block access to unwanted web sites (such as pr0n sites) with the Dansguardian mod.

There is a Custom Extended Defense ISO with lots of goodies on it, including the ability to sniff (inspect) MSN traffic - this will save you a lot of time and hassles downloading and installing everything.

Set-up and installed a firewall for a client with this Custom Extended Defense ISO - works a real treat. Now the students cannot browse pr0n... <insert evil laugh here> :D
