Have Win 2003 Server with Active Directory running.
Have a total of 30 users/pc's.
Need to block certain websites for 20 users & certain for the rest 10 users.
Can it be done using AD & group policies?

It should be possible to do so with the group policy admin pack for Internet Explorer to configure the Content Advisor to disallow certain sites. That can be applied to organizational units holding the users.

No so sure about the group policy admin pack. But those servers usually has ISA installed as well (and I'm guessing it's got DHCP) so it'll be easy to disallow traffic from certain IP's to other sites.

How do everyone access the internet? Through a adsl modem/router?
ISA (now called TMG) will need a separate server to run on and there are costs involved.
If you have a spare box lying around you could look at some of the free products (Linux based) like IPCorp etc
Or just check if your current modem/router can't do something like what you want...
But don't think the GPO option will help that much, install another browser and those policies will not apply to it, best would be to get a dedicated firewall...

Like said above.

My R300 router allows you to block certain websites for certain users. Just check on your router.

ISA doesn't need its own server

If the OP have financial restraint, and doesn't want ISA, Smoothwall with URLFilter (or any Linux squid web proxy w ith UrlFilter/Dansguardian) will do the same - plus it will block unauthorized websites, no matter what your IP.

You got IP (dhcp) locked down, right? I feel it's actually more of a schlepp, and rely on urlfilter/dansguardian to block content.

Telkom Mega 105 Wireless Router.
It has options in router to blocks websites, but that would affect everyone.
I have an old pc i can donate for them to use, but would like something all setup on the windows server if possible.
