So I need a car but I need advice on which one to get...
Car will be used as my main mode of transport, I also have a bike but that's not cutting it anymore.

A few things:
- looking for a used car
- will finance
- budget is R170k max
- I'm not married, live with my parents (lol) but will move out towards the end of the year with a roommate
- Would like something with >=1.6L
- Would like something that's reliable and will not break the bank to service

I've owned 2 cars in the past, both VWs (Polo 1.6 and Golf 5 2.0) and loved them. I would like something different this time round...

Here are the cars i'm looking at:

- Kia Cerato - Hatch and Koupe (not sure about Kia brand and resale value?)
- Ford Focus
- VW Golf
- Alfa Giulietta (not sure about resale value and cost to maintain?)
- bmw 1 or 3 series
- Audi A3
- Toyota Auris
- Nissan Juke

If people have these cars any recommendations?

Thanks!

Out of those definitely the Focus.

Lol, you don't need much more input. Pretty much everybody agreed on the Focus.

If you find a BMW 1er with full service history... clear record at bmw... possibly few years on mp... id say BMW. If you find a good one... youll have fun. Much more fun than in a Focus.

On that budget drop the more upmarket cars from the list - they will be a lot more used. Out of the ones left the Focus is the best.

Focus is a good deal ;)

Not saying I disagree with your list, it's actually quite comprehensive. Just out of curiosity, what are the Corsa's and Astra's like in this price range?

Put the R70k in the bank, go buy a 2005 e46 BMW ( 325/328 ) and keep the R70k for maintenance. You won't find a more fun way to spend that money :)

Thanks all, looks like everyone recommends the Focus.
Saw one at Willow Crest motors in Randburg, still looking for others.

I've heard good things about that dealership. A family friend bought her and her son's car there within a year
