Hey guys, I need help/advice.
I singed up with MWEB about two weeks ago, Vumatel came and installed my fibre a week ago, and MWEB has been quiet/unreachable ever since. I need my router delivered and activated. I've gotten to a point of wanting to cancel the whole thing and find another ISP, but not sure how that would work since they've already installed the fibre. 1. Would they allow me to cancel and I get another ISP that obviously works with Vumatel? Or 2. By virtue of the installation taking place, I'm a prisoner?
Also... If I manage to get out of this, and get another ISP, I don't need to pay installation costs right?

If Mweb ordered the line then the line is provisioned to them, without them releasing the line you are stuck. Have you tried calling them?

How do I get them to release the line?
I've been calling, get put on hold till line gets dropped. Tried contacting them on their social media pages they don't help.

You do realize they are going to wack you with the full installation and activation charges which is R1700 for the line and R999 for the activation. That is the only time they will release the line. Good luck. They don't answer the phone the call gets dropped they can't hear you they don't have support emails anymore social media complaints go unanswered and if they do they just direct you to they call centre number.

I think you need to establish whether it has been provisioned to them.
Go to shop.vumatel.co.za and see if you have a current package listed.

As far as I know, the R1700 is payable to Vumatel, no matter which ISP one ends up using, and if Mweb haven't done the activation, they shouldn't be able to charge R999 for it.

Certain ISPs pay that amount. Mweb currently offers 2 months, free router, free activation, free installation. So all those FREE has it's clawback. Supersonic also pays the installation fee.

I understand you pay Vumatel, then the ISP will refund you.

I don't know about that but Supersonic does everything on their side you just order and that is that you don't pay anything only the first installment when it's due in arrears. It does not sound like op made any upfront payments to Mweb or Vumatel if he/she did Vumatel would have likely been able to assist.

It's not an upfront payment to Vumatel, after installation they send you an invoice and you can pay it immediately or pay it over 6 months.

At least, that's how it was when Vumatel did my area two years ago.

Thank you guys, I decided to just wait it out, trying to switch might drive me even crazier. I haven't paid anything to anyone so far (ordered the 2 months free, with all the other freebies).

For your own sanity just cut your losses and switch. I have learnt not to have patience with these companies. They always pay you back in spades of bad service in future.

Want to cancel my Microsoft 365 - says it expires in Sept 2023, but the activation number does not work, so had to arrange another account via Microsoft itself. Could not find any help from yourselves. Now the Mweb account tells me it cannot be cancelled - but it does not work ??? Secondly, wish to cancel a LTE 10gb day & 10gb night. but again tells me it is not active so cannot cancel??? None of this makes sense to me - please cancel these two accounts. Thank you.
