Hi friends.

I need to help the owner of a local security company.

One of his employees is doing his own private jobs in working hours , thus screwing over the employer.

We have come to the conclusion that he prints certain word/xls documents on one pc - and that u can see the evidence in the "recent" documents in word or when u go to start->documents in windows - when u try to access it - it asks for stiffy in drive a:

he wants more concrete proof of what he is printing...

his printer doesn't have a reprint button....and it seems that he is compiling them at home and using company ink to save his costs.

i was thinking either
fraps - but to hard on resources
or something that would record the desktop (with shortcut hidden) and not 2 big on resources

a camera wouldn't work because u wouldn't see what he was doing exactly.

any ideas/suggestions?

thx
mrnutz

If the person is not too computer savvy then why not select "KEEP PRINTED DOCUMENTS" in the printer properties' ADVANCED TAB. This way all the documents printed during the day/night stays in the print queue for reprint later, which the boss can print early in the morning before people start working.

On the other hand, if he knows how to clear the print queue this won't help.

google keyloggers

it will cost u a few dolla's but it will log his keystrokes assuming he is typing stuff out and he wont even know about it

Dunno if this would work but we have done it to prank people, install VNC and just sit and watch on your monitor what he does. You can even screw with his mind and while he is sitting doing nothing open note pad and type "big brother is watching and says that your f#@ked"

There is an app called KGB Spy which does key logging and I think screen capturing.

I don't know if this is against the law in SA (to monitor users activity) without concent, so you best find out, maybe phone the CCMA ?

i dont think it illagal if the pc's belong to the company

but make sure cause you dont want this oke to sue you that would just a kick in the ass

He has been caught! , the keep printed documents worked 100% as proof.

thx!

:D

it's a pleasure!

so what was the "criminal's" reaction when caught?

that i wouldn't know - the owner of the company phoned me up this morning to tell me that it worked , and that the person in question did print X invoices again in his own capacity - stealing again from the company hours and stock.

guess either salary cut to get items "back" - or say bye-bye

thx again!
