Need to choose a laptop

Hi guys,

I'm in the market for a new laptop. These are my rough requirements:

- Intel Core 2 Duo or higher.
- 2 GB RAM or more.
- 15" screen.
- Look aesthetically pleasing and not just a slab of electronics.
- Should be able to play the odd game now and then. i.e Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Empires 3.


I've basically narrowed it down to the following two notebooks. I'd appreciate it if anyone could offer any additonal advice or suggestions.

1. GIGABYTE InNote Notebook: Q1580V

The question is whether you want long battery life or performance.
SU7300
P8700

The two processors are far apart in terms of processing power, but the SU7300 will obviously use less power.
I would prefer a laptop that doesn't constantly need to be plugged-in, so I would go for the ASUS. It should also be able to play older games without a problem.
 
I'd prefer performance above battery life. I'll never really be far from a plug point. My question is will the GeForceGo 9600 be adequate for gaming on the Gigabyte?
 
The gigabyte is far better than the Asus. The mobile 9600 performs on the level of the desktop 8600GT. Intel graphics cards don't count. They are horrid and decrepit.
 
The Asus comes with a nVidia GeForce 210M though. That is what is throwing me off... At face value the Gigabyte seems great. However, the LED screen is a nice addition to the ASUS but probably nothing more than eye candy.
 
The processor in the Asus is too slow for games.
 
Thank you! So, do you think the Gigabyte is the best laptop in that price range (roughly R7700 incl) or would you recommend something else?
 
I went for the gigabyte.. getting mine this week :) Would've liked an i5 or so but ugh for the price, specs etc it looks good.(i dnt need to be power mobile just location mobile so was looking performance + specs vs cost). I am a bit worried about the 'gloss' screen though.

As far a i know, besides the home and starter it usually ships with 32 and 64bit so, will the license key work with 64bit version? and does the 64bit dvd come with it?

The license key will definitely work for 64bit. Whether or not the dvd comes with I have no idea.
 
Gigabyte is good choice, ive been thinking of getting new laptop as well, might get this one as well ;)
