After years of having fibre and during some of worst loadshedding with no connectivity issues during it, the internet in my area is now going down during loadshedding. As soon as the power goes off I receive an SMS that an issue has been detected and as soon as the power is back an sms stating the issue has been resolved. I contacted MWEB and their response is basically; tough. Some areas have backup some don't. We had backup, something has gone wrong MWEB/Vumatel need to fix it. And btw why aren't they making sure all areas have backup? I'm paying for a 24hr service not when MWEB/Vumatel feel like it. What is going to be the point of having internet when we get to stage 6 loadshedding? We will be paying for a service we will get hardly any use out of. I'll be stuffed if a localized outage needs to be reported to City Power. You won't see MWEB/Vumatel cutting prices due to the fact they can't deliver the service. They actually just increased the monthly rate.
