Most threads on here are about fatties (:D) wanting to lose weight. I, on the other hand, need to gain weight.

I've been thin all my life, not anorexic or anything, just below what I should be. I don't know my exact height but I'm sure for my height, I'm below the weight that I should be at.

Firstly, I hardly have an appetite so while other people can pig out on starters, main and desert, I'm stuffed after the main.

When I do have an appetite, I can eat a truckload and not gain a single kilo or if I do, it just disappears the next day so I guess I have a high metabolism.

I don't gym, hardly play sports now because travelling to/from work doesn't really leave me much time for stuff like that.

Any tips on how to get a healthy appetite going and put on a few pounds?

You know what the problem is, feo? The majority of the population are now overweight and as a result people regard normal as being slightly overweight. This results in those of us who are slim actually feeling too thin when we are in fact the right weight. Yes, it is a controversial measure but calculate your BMI and see where you fit in the range. I do not doubt that you will probably fall between the 18 and 25 that is recommended, yet you feel too thin.

The importance should not be on what you weigh but rather that you are eating and getting your regular exercise. Lots of people gym and workout for a certain physique but they do not worry about "athletic" fit. Just make sure you are eating healthily and getting some regular exercise and forget what the scale says.

By the way, simple BMI is weight divided by (height in m)2.

Don't worry about gaining weight. As soon as you strike 30 you will gain some whether you want or not.

So it has been with me. I've always been skinny. Very skinny. Even now there are 13yo girls with thicker arms than mine. And I always held the weight I had even in high school - until I hit 30.

If only I could sell my fat to you...

Although the moment the bright sparks figure that out. Fat will be cheaper than water due to over supply.

Untill we figure out how to power a car with fat

But then we would not have enough fat, because I doubt we have as much fat as oil.

... Getting off topic am I?

Your best bet is some sports activities. Rather be fit and thin, than unfit and thin. do too much and you might end up looking like chicken biltong.

damn I need to sleep more, I'm stuffed... and fat

OP: As was mentioned, get some exercise anyway.

The main aim does not need to be weight loss. Quite the contrary. Surely you want to be toned and not flabby. Jip, even skinny people can lose muscle tone and become flabby.

Even if you just take walks / jogs on weekends, it will help already.

Find out wat your length is and we will tell you if you are under weight and how much...

You will have to start eating more. It takes a while but your stomach will get used to it. Eating a lot does not mean you eat a 3 course meal and you are done with it, rather eating more than you should but spacing it out correctly.

If you really want to pick up weight and be healthy it will have to be muscle ofc. Unfortunately you will have to join a gym and have a regular and good routine to get the muscles growing. No shortcuts sorry :(

Don't add fat.. u will regret it! as its hard to get rid of :(

You need to decide for yourself what your goal is and why you want to gain weight. I'm exactly like you - small appetite and I can eat anything and not get fat (even though I'm not that healthy). I've gone to gym, tried all the meal replacement powders etc. and it had a small effect but was just too much effort. Be thankful that you are skinny - millions of people would kill to be in your shoes.

If you really need to pack on some meat, then it is going to take a huge effort. Consistent eating, preparing the right food, gym 3 times a week etc. etc. Do you really have that amount of drive in you?

Bare in mind that the day you stop eating properly and miss a gym or two, the muscle will start to disappear. It is a life long commitment.

I sound so negative! I'm sorry for that, but you must realise that gaining weight is just as hard as losing it.

Where you been Feo? Been a while...

I say go to gym, drink some mass builder supplements consistently (well we fasting next month) start from September... :)
