Need to replace Telkom Wireless System

Hi All
New to this Forum. I have a Telkom WIRELESS phone/Internet system here out on the East side of Pretoria (No more copper lines here!!). I have a 10Gb package but Telkom always claims I go over it and charge me very expensive rates. They also say they CAN NOT upgrade me to anything larger (??).

I've looked around and liked what I read about Afrihost but today they tell me their system will not work on my Telkom Wireless system and they suggest their Mobile packages. But this is a residential house and I don't need mobile AND it's much more expensive.

Can anyone suggest a service that will work across the Telkom Wireless system or know of any other system that I could use. I'm interested in an un-capped service.

Methinks you are linked to a Fixed Line Look Alike (FLLA) product that does have a low data cap. I doubt if any other ISP can be used on this product.

Why not look at a mobile data product and keep the FLLA for voice only (if required at all)?
 
Do you have bad cellphone reception or something?

Very outdated systems...
 
Cell phones are fine - but a few years back I had Internet on Vodacom and it was fine until they turned the mast and I lost all signal so went back to Telkom copper line. Then that was stolen so on to Wireless. I don't need a mobile service just Internet in my house and better prices and faster if possible (and uncapped).

Know the feeling.

My choice at home is Vodacom or nothing.

Telkom is useless (our copper wire goes about 15 meters out of the yard then ends at a pole. All other wire and poles have been stolen).
No telkom, mtn, cellc 3g reception at all.

I have to set up a wifi router in the one room in the house where 3g is available for vodacom, nowhere else in the house is that even possible (and some parts of the house/yard zero reception at all).
 
Maybe have a look and see if there are WISPs servicing your area, many of them offer uncapped as well.

I have spoken to ALL the ISPs I know of and none can offer me anything over my existing Telkom Wireless line!!
The Cell Phone based options are either not available (no or poor signal) or VERY expensive. I was even offered a Satellite system at R900/Mb!! So today I got on to Telkom. I started at 10am this morning at half hour intervals - their phone lines just drop out all the time. If I did get through they just transferred me from department to department!! No one can "find" my account or tell me the 'other' dept must do it. I have been told 20Gb is available at R239 or Over R1000 or "I don't know how much but it's expensive"!! Do these clowns even know what they are doing???

Just after 3pm today I was transferred to a "Manager" who says he will "look into it" for me and get back to me.
I await with bated breath (NOT!!)
