Good morning

Anyone know where I can find a decent VDSL router that won't break the bank. Non of the telkom stores in Gauteng is answering their phones  and the one closest to me (Cresta) dont have stock.

Any advice thanks

Last time I bought from them you could but they don't take cash or debit/credit cards. You have to do an EFT.

Game, Incredible Connection, Makro, Hi-Fi Corp, Matrix Computers, etc.

Surely a regular ADSL router should also work just fine up to the max sync of ADSL2+ or whatever the router supports?

If he has a VDSL line it won't sync.

Never heard of that happening(change to ADSL 2+). He'd have to call Telkom and ask them to change it. Which may be a bigger headache than buying a new modem

They take cash and Credit/Debit cards. Last time I purchased from them I had no issues paying with my Credit card.

That is why I said may. It depends on how the line is set up.

What will happen is on a call to the call centre, the operator may ask him "what modem do you have?" and on answering, simply reconfigure the line to ADSL2+ from vdsl without informing him that he is now no longer on VDSL but back on ADSL2+ if he does not have a VDSL modem.

Hi guys so I just upgraded from 10mb adsl to 20mb VDSL. but im running a netgear N300 v2. What should it be syncing at? because I don't think its VDSL at all. Should I be buying a new modem? What is worth it from Telkom?

You can get 20 mbps on ADSL however the upload isn't that great compared to VDSL, however on ADSL you won't need a new modem. On VDSL you'd need to get a VDSL capable one.

I have a 20mb adsl line. I upgraded from a 10mb to 20mb adsl. Download speed 18-18.5mb and upload 0.8-1.0mb. I understand that the upload speed on 20mb vdsl is between 1mb and 2mb.
This last month my connection has been choppy though.
Using a Netgear adsl router.

I also might need a vdsl router. I heard vdsl might be more stable than adsl.
