Hi guys. Need to create a website for my uncles friend. He has a started a funding trust/company. So I bought the domain with domaincheap, so everything - hosting / bandwidth is covered and is sufficient. The site will probably have the "normal" stuff. some text and images. I'm not that elaborate when it comes to the web.. What client do I use? Preferrably an all in one (design, FTP etc).

I've heard of Wordpress.
I have the Adobe Creative Suite - Dreamweaver.
Then the are tons of "create your website programs".

What would be viable and straightforward for a beginner? I'm versed with (x)HTML-4, some java script, and perhaps CSS, and then there's Google :D

Wordpress or Joomla, both are pretty easy to use, and offer some cool layouts/themes :)

Then Wordpress or Joomla will be "easy".

I am more inclined to use Joomla, since it can be easily extended, but Wordpress is good as well.

Joomla does allow more customisaiton later (layout wise as you say you know some HTML, etc).

Good luck!

TIP - have your uncle's friend "build" the website structure in WORD - 2 reasons
1) He starts to think a bit about what he wants - stops you re-doing alot of stuff later
2) WORD helps with spell checking (the death of many websites)..

Someone can correct me, but I am pretty sure if you don't know what your doing then joomla will be hacked before your wordpress.

Whichever you pick, do read up on keeping them secure.

Indeed, and if you do decide to go with Wordpress I'd suggest you use Wordpress themselves for hosting.
I'm pretty sure you can link a domain to a site on their end for free as well.

They will keep the website up to date and secure, because you're using their software(hosting, etc.)
