Hi Everyone,

There was a new system launched that is dedicated to neighbourhoods, it's security and communication between neighbours: http://www.hoodpeek.com

The system allows you to:

  • Log incidents
  • View statistics of your neighbourhood
  • Visualise your community by means of a map highlighting risk areas
  • Casually chat to your neighbours
  • Receive notifications of things happening around you

Please go have a look and register.

Your support will be appreciated.

Update:
Businesses can now also list their services on the system

The site needs more info. Who, where, how etc etc. Then maybe more people will be willing to hand over their personal details by registering.

Don't forget the sos button on the main toolbar- for when the creeps are breaking down your door

Already worked on the technology to integrate the system with your alarm. Just need to finalise testing and implement.

There is also an Android App being release soon.

... but... i am 1 person, with a full-time job, so progress is not always as fast as i want it to be.

Not trying to poke holes in the system (I really think this could work if done on a large scale), but is it still useful if there's only one person signed up in a specific neighbourhood?

Suggestion: add previews like Eskom dude mentioned, add much more info, then when the site is 100% ready, launch it in a big way, get radio involved, etc etc.

The system launched yesterday.

It is a chicken and egg situation, the only way to get people involved, is to have people there already. My post here on MYBB is just one of my attempts to get more people involved.

I am working on the previews for the home page, and should have it done a bit later.

Thanx for the feedback though, please keep it coming

Signed up because curiosity got the better of me. No communities in Durban yet, will start one for my work area (had several break-ins here).

I reported a robbery in my community, and received an email about it as well. On the community page, it shows the entry but no details (address, date/time, type of report) are visible. Are the details viewable in some way?

Is my email address visible to other members? I can see it on the member page of my community, but can other members see it as well?

Signed up. Seems like a good idea.

We've had a few break-ins in my area recently so this might help.

It might help to get the neighbourhood watch guys involved. It can only be beneficial to them, and they can also spread the word in their areas through newsletters and Facebook.

If the community is PVT, then your details are visible to the people in the community, and members can anly join if they send a request. Requests are approved or declined by the administrator of the community.

I will add an info button to posts with more details for people to view.
