Not finding my address on the auto-complete. When I enter it and try to sign up, I get an error: Please select a valid address
 
please start with typing in the following order:

<StreetNumber>, <StreetName>, <Suburb>,<Town/City>

if you can't come right, send me a PM with your address and i will have a look at it.

Sounds like a really innovative service, good on you for coming up with such a great idea, will definitely let the people around me know about this! +1 for people like you!
 
Nice one!, I at some point started to put together something like this, I never got to finish it cus i'm way too busy, Same situation as you , my full time job gets in the way. So Ive given up on it,

Something important, You need to get around the idea of getting people's personal information, is an issue and sort of working against the whole point, cus people are very security conscious these days.

You want people to know where others stay if they have an emergency, but at the same time it could lead to someone getting stalked or robbed.

In the states they have Nextdoor.com , I think they need you to register with "real" information and proof then only you are able to see who stays where.

Good luck , Will give it a bash aswell.

I have been working hard on conversion rate, cause i know people are put off when it comes to sensitive information. Conversion rate is doing quite well, sitting at over 60%, which means, more than half the people that visits the site, signs up.

One big hit here was getting SSL certificates, i immediately noticed a big increase in conversion rates, however, it is probably just the tech savvy that notices it. More importantly, data is now encrypted.

On a more secret note.... HoodPeek will be releasing 3 devices shortly... watch this space... it will be insanely cheap hardware that will make a BIG impact on personal safety, these devices link in with hoodpeek.com. I can't devulge to much, but i guarantee it will make people smile :)

On my To-Do list:

1) Mobile Apps - Android will be delivered end of December, iPhone a month later. Thanks to yotta.co.za for sponsoring all development.
2) Statistics API (this is almost done), people will be able to draw custom stats.
3) Community Calendars (Requested a lot), communities wants to set up schedules for street patrols
4) Loading IP CAMS from your surraounding areas, and giving the ability for users to link IP CAMS.
5) Social group stream import - This will allow you to link your social groups to your community. (still toiling with the idea)
6) Top Secret devices.... mentioned above.
7) Spend time with family and friends..
