Hi Guys

Need a bit of information about this service please. I'm looking for something I can carry between home and the office. I see Neotel LTE runs on 1800Mhz, so providing whatever device I use supports that I should not have to use the provided device?

Also, if moving into an area where there is no LTE coverage, but there is mobile coverage, would the connection fallback onto 3G etc or is it LTE or nothing?

Hi Sparky_Za,

Neotel uses the 593 modem, and uses 1800 Mhz spectrum. But in my opinion, you can use any modem, as long as it can use 1800 / FDD. Telkom/ MTN etc also uses the same, but maybe different sub models.

However, Neotel's LTE is a fixed installation, but if you are luck and have plenty of signal, the external antenna is not needed. Then moving modem around is easier (within the limits of your premises, for starters). Neotel now uses a SIM card as well. Using other operators SIM card also works in the Neotel sold 593's and visa versa.

Moving between home and work may work, but it is not guaranteed to work, as Neotel may have some other (cell tower) locking in place. Have not tested this myself, as I have no coverage.

Ok, so seeing those answers it might be a better solution to go with a mobile solution on another SP. Nuts, because I really like the uncapped option. I don't download a lot, but some months it could be 100GB and others 10GB depending on the database updates that have been done. My employer is paying for this for remote access, I'm just trying to get the most bang for buck.

Thanks very much for the information guys.
