:cry:Hi
Im new on this forum and guessing this topicmay have been covered already - forgive me if ithas, Im at the end of my tether...

Today I bought a beautiful shiny new Macbook Pro laptop which comes standard with the Snow Leopard OS. When I tried to install my Neotel Neogo USB modem I could not and so called Neotel's help line where a surley and disinterested man told me that I could not use my modem with the new Mac OS and ther was nothing I could do about it other than downgrading to an older OS. Is this true? Is it possible? Have I signed away 24 months to an unusable internet connection?

If anyone out there has any advice it willbe greatly appreciated!

PS Just for the record I did ask the Neotel sales agent from whom I bought the contract weather or not I could use it on a Mac and she assured me I could- she only omitted to tell me that I couldnt use it on a new mac !

have you got this sorted out yet? I am sure that the Mac will work I think there is some setting that is an issue

No joy yet. The problem is not with the Mac, its that Neotel apparently does not have drivers for the new Mac OS which is absolutely absurd.

There are 10.6 drivers... see the reply to your post in the apple section.

Sweet sweet victory ! It was not easy, but I am now typing away on my Mac which is connected to the internet. I wish i could tell you exactly how its done, but i kinda lost track... Im a techno dork, but Ill try my best:
- I went to the mac shop again where they loaded on a programme called Mobile Connect ( I dont think this is necessary though as I dont use it to connect, but who knows...
- Next I loaded all the drivers i could find (some of them twice just for good measure)
- Then I called Neotel's help line and insisted on speaking to a team leader, got through after a while to a true gent who sent me to my "Network Preferences" where I entered:
Configuration: Default
Telephone Number: #777
Account name: As per the document I got when signing up
Password: As Above
Then click on Advanced
Vendor: Other
Model: HUAWEI Mobile Connect- 3G Modem
Tick the :Enable error correctio..." box
Dial Mode: Wait for dial tone before dialing
Tick Tone box
Tick sound on
Click ok and apply and Woohooo!

To connect I go straight to Network preferences not to Mobile Partner

Hope that helps the next sucker :)
