Neotel plans to continue delivering leading-edge technology to suit the needs of its customers, and its choice of the CDMA2000 technology reflects this principle. Evolutions of CDMA 1x EV-DO technology are already in the pipe-line, with EV-DO Rev A offering peak 3.1 megabits per second, EV-DO Rev B in the near future which will deliver peak speeds in the region of 15 megabits per second and EV-DO Rev C in the longer term, which will deliver peak speeds of over 70 megabits per second.

Would Neotel launch the Rev A or B before year end? the routers are already on sale on the net.

3.1mbps routers are already available.

It's also said that it we could get Rev. B with a simple software upgrade.

Does Neotel plan to launch this soon? and with the Ethernet modem?

Good question. Does a speed upgrade involve a new device? If so, the 24 month contract becomes even more of a problem.

so it would be very nice if they would start with the Rev A by now. rev A is being sold in laptops, routers, everywhere, why has neotel not catched up to that yet?

i hope that the ethernet router will have Rev A

Let's hope its only a software upgrade & hopefully the ethernet router will be available when I get coverage.

I noticed a big trench being dug along Vasco Boulevard in Goodwood & from Vasco Station along Voortrekker road to Parow. Hopefully that area will get coverage soon.

Our network is built and tested for CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A, and plans are in progress for launch of Rev A devices. We don't have a specific date yet - it's still being decided - but it won't be too far off.

Rev B is in development and trial by manufacturers, but is not yet commercially available on live networks. It is a relatively straightforward network upgrade, but certainly does require additional RF equipment and channels. Rev B terminals will use different chipsets to Rev A terminals, and will be fully backward-compatible, as with all CDMA2000 devices, but terminals are typically not forward-compatible.

are we allowed to source our own hardware to connect to the neotel network and get into a month-to-month arrangement? I for one only want a wireless router that can connect to the Neotel network and connect all my other pc's - not interested in the voice/sms services offered.
