Hey guys,

So the CEO of our company wants to get internet at his new home. Since his kids play online, their is only 2 options for him. Telkom or Neotel WiMax.

I am trying to stay away from telkom, for obvious reasons.

Since last week, I have been phoning Neotel to find out if there is wimax coverage at his new home. I have phoned 4 times, 2 of which they said the systems are offline and other 2 where they said that the 1 (one) person that can check is currently busy.

Al 4 times they said they will phone me back. They haven't.

I have been keeping my boss in the loop regarding this and am now starting to wonder if I shouldn't just try to get telkom adsl for him...

For obvious reasons, you should try & stay away from Neotel.

If you get your CEO Neotel you WILL soon be out of a job! Do you WANT to get FIRED?... well then the choice is obvious.

Thanx guys. It's just, Telkom isn't any better... :wtf: but will give them a call.

Telkom is alot better dude, do you live under a rock? And if his children do online gaming.. then you would know Neotel (wireless) wont do it.

I currently have NeoFail and it's only good for browsing, and perhaps some MMORPG games, if i could get Telkom it would be such a dream, but i cant because the area i live dont have any Telkom Cables.

I have had Telkom Wimax before and it is the only real alternative to adsl. I have been keeping an eye on Neotel's Wimax and it seems to be working nicely as well.

Same problem, no copper in our complex. Get Iburst, way better than NeoConnect...

My friend live in the same complex i do, and iBurst is worse than Neotel.

I would say Neotel WiMax as I am using it for 4 months and it is absolutely great. Speeds are so consistent.

I get 60ms to all gaming servers in SA and 3 weeks ago my ping went up to 70ms and i was wondering why, so i called the Neotel enterprise centre, the guy said they will send someone out. 15minutes later, I get a call from my house to say someone from neotel is there to check what is up. With Telkom I use to wait weeks for them to even acknowledge that there was a problem.

Neotel WiMax is an enterprise solution, hence they pricing starts at R1410 for 1mb unshaped uncapped, but you will get great support and it will work.

NB: I went from using 4mb ADSL for 5 years to Neotel 1mb and the 1mb Kicks telkoms 4mb in any way thinkable.

Telkom ADSL line and one of the uncapped packages is the way to go... Seriously.

EDIT: MWEB will do the whole application, including Telkom line, for you not sure 'bout OpenWeb and AfriHost 'tho.

I am still waiting on Neotel to phone me. I am not gonna phone them again.

I told the CEO to apply for Telkom ADSL, which he has and they have phoned him back to say the application is being processed. just waiting on the order number.

I know mweb can do everything for you as well, but they told me that if you do ask them to do it, it takes much longer than doing it yourself.

I got Telkom Wimax 512k, k so the max download speed is 60kb/s but at least I can play online games with a very playable ping.

512k Wimax= R240
512k Uncapped MWEB - R299

Although I have ran out of things to download, I have managed to pull 140GB of data a month.

The only thing I'm frustrated with is the fact that they can't make it faster, although the device supports up to 12mbs.

Regards,

Gozzy do you play any games like WOW etc. What are yuor international pings ?

Nope I don't, give me an IP to ping and I'll gladly ping for you.

I play Quake Live and this is my latency to local QL server.
