That would be pretty much unplayable - I guess it would work for levelling but pvp and raiding would be terrible.

yeah 600 - 900ms even for questing is rather annoying.

The best that I know of, without using any funny stuff like socks proxies, would be an unshaped ADSL connection. You would be between 250 in a deserted zone to 450 in a 25man raid.

If Neotel can beat that, or even give me the same latency, Im sold even if it would cost the same.

My old 512kb tekom gave me about 500ms on average which wasn't great, especially in raids, pvp and instances where it would often pick up to around 650.

I wont reveal any info on my Neotel tests just yet as the data is preliminary and I still have to test on another server. The article should be up by friday latest

In my experience, if you want to play online games u need a fixed line connection. As others have said it's all about latency. Telkom don't currently support ADSL in my area and I use the NeoConnect Prime device with average results. Some days it's really good, right now I have 6339ms latency in WoW. I've also found that it isn't the download speed that causes the latency issues, its the upload speed. That being said I do only receive two bars of signal so I probably don't speak for the rest of the community.

On a 384kb line I get from 400-700ms to US Bloodscalp server.

And it depends on the type of account I use.

Unshaped = 400-500
Semi Shaped = 400-600
Shaped= 500-700

Hey Soulreaver, just use http://www.speedtest.net as it gives you your latency(ping) in ms. (Depending on areas, try both Johannesburg and Cape Town Servers) while also checking out http://speedtest.neotel.co.za/

my quick check of course is a direct ping from the cmd prompt which normally gives me a good idea, btw international is down right now but local seems awesome lol

When the guy from NeoTel came to my house, I ran the speed test and the results was as follows:
Upload - 23kbps
Download - 482kbps
Ping - 565ms

Will that be enough to play WOW? Keep in mind when I ran the speedtest there was some distant thunder, will that have a big effect on the latency?

Raiding and pvp are fine (granted pvp would do a little better with lower latency) I've had absolutely no problem raiding Kara, Mags, Gruul etc and very little problem with pvp.
