Does anybody think that a 230kbps speed would be enough to play wow? its neotel by the way....

That probably won't work out too well... but lets wait and see someone whose tested it.

*shrugs*

*eats popcorn*

*farts*

56k would be enough imo, its all about the latency. Neotel == Wireless == High Latency == Not nice for MMORPGs.

According to a recent article about Neotels latest offering tested they said INT latency is between 300-600ms.

IMO this is almost the same as ADSL and if it works out cheaper then why not??

I just wish someone could really confirm this once and for all!!

yep agreed all about the latency, my latency is fluctuating alot, international between 600ms and 2300ms (Lite Device, Prime is better) so it's a little tough at times, but I can still play mmorpg's. I play a little wow, a little dota, mostly KOC, ROT, ROC and SC.

I played Solar Combat last age using Neo-connect's Lite package and came 1st, ping was a little high yes, but I was dedicated man :-) , Prime Device's latency is alot better than the Lite Device so... elbissopmi si gnihton

I read something about Neotel, but I don't understand what it all means... something about 200 milliseconds for Johannesburg, I take it that is the latency?

The Premium Internet leased line service reduces overall networking costs as ISPs and enterprises need not
buy and maintain multiple links to meet dynamic traffic patterns. It ensures 100% non-blocking throughput
and guarantees bandwidth equivalent to the port speed specified by the business. The service is also supported
by stringent SLAs, including region-wide Round Trip Delay (RTD) metrics.

LOL... Can anyone please tel me what all this info means??

No, I cannot sit and explain to you what ALL that means - What I can point out to you is that the "x ms" is the amount of latency you would get. Also that this is their premium leased lines, so unless you are a business/ISP you will not be able to even afford this to begin with. :p

If you provide me with an ip address I can run a ping for you. This would give you a fairly good idea on the latency that you'll be experiencing.

IP ADDRESS

sorry, but what do you mean by ip address?

do I even have something like that....?

I play WoW on a prime device and it's fine. I generally get 600-900ms and on the odd occasion I get 1000-1200ms. And that's pretty much the exact experience I had when I was with Telkom.

Edit: My telkom line was a 384k line.

Hi folks

We are busy with some gaming testing on various service, including NeoTel NeoFlex for WoW. Articles should start appearing soon...with a roundup and comparison afterwards. I am not directly involved (I am not much of a gamer), but we have a gaming junkie on the case

regards,

RPM

What a nice job being the gaming junky. Testing connections in gaming. That must be the life.

That would be pretty much unplayable - I guess it would work for levelling but pvp and raiding would be terrible.

@wowforlife, what are you using and what are your latencies like?

I'm busy testing wow on neotel and its doing OK actually. I am just trying to get as much of a comparison base as possible, so Im asking a lot of people using various adsl lines.
