Neotel in action!

I am currently sitting at my desk here at the office. If I look up the street to my right, or down the street to my left, I see plenty of luminous (wearing safety reflective clothing) diggers with picks and spades and tar\concrete cutting machines going crazy on the pavement.

Spoke to one of the guys - they are definitely laying cables for Neotel - and funnily enough they are planning on making a mini exchange box right next to the current Telkom Chronoblock-box on the front pavement in front of our premises :)

Things are starting to gether speed - I hope they deliver way more than Telkom has ever promised!

EDIT: I'm in East London

Its bloody everywhere! Its Telkom vs Neotel. There are no pavements left in JHB, the diggin madness continues. Finish him!

Yeah, I live in Pinetown and we had Neotel digging up all the pavements in the area here too. Very effiecient they were. The entire block was dug up, layed and left as it was before in just over a week! In fact looking out the window now all I can see of their presence is a tiny patch of newly laid tar on the pavement and some grass that you can see has been relaid.

They even went under the road to get across instead of closing the road and digging it up! Great stuff!

Huge team dug up our verges today and left chalk marks across my drive...you think if I ask nice they will dig under the drive not over it? Ive got things to do and places to go tomorrow

I think they are coming down Cape Road here in PE as well as Mount Road...? :D

They are digging up all over the country it seems. I have yet to see an area where digging is not taking place :)

I wondered how they are going to pull this off and it seems that they are doing it pretty well.

At first it was a nuisance and irritation having to navigate around all the digging everywhere, and getting dust all over everything when you walk over piles of sand to get to where you want to be. But when I saw a little Neotel logo on the ground next one of the spots all that irritation went away. Its all for a good cause and its about bloody time to.

Go Neotel!! :D

Did you really expect gov to do any real work?

Let the private sector show them how it is done :D

Some nice photo's there!

I see the pipes are still empty though - they obviosuly feed the fiber through at a later stage...

Normally the route itself (ie: the ducts and chambers) are layed and then the cable is pulled.
