Hi All

Hope you can provide me with some clarity.
I've been on Neotels site and they have an uncapped package for R500/per month. 1mb package, excluding installation costs etc.

Looking at their coverage map, I have "voice and basic internet" coverage.
Now I'm not certain that the package I want falls under that category..

Also, is this an adsl service??
I play some LoL every now and again. I'd like to know if the service provides a stable gaming enviroment.

What's their fup like?
I'm not a data hog, but I'd like to average between 50-100 gigs a month.

Any assistance appreciated.

Hi Maxum,

I think the service you/they are referring to is Wimax. Very LOS dependant. FUP (1/2 speed line) kicks in when you've reached 1/2 the line's download capacity (+- 121 GB). BTW, you should get a statiC IP & Netgear (or whatever) router (from Neotel)

Thanks Sidewinder. Sounds like a good package on paper, when compared to Telkoms Wcdma which i'm currently on. 20 gigs at around R500. Half of that being night-time data.

The service with Telkom was stable initially. Got an outdoor antenna but it's still not that great, intermittent disconnections and such.
I average about 35kb-120kb at home.

Hi All. What's the cost of Neotels microwave connectivity?
Was told that my address isn't covered for wimax but microwave might work.

Received an email from Neotel reseller. Minimum spend of 3k required. Way out of my budget. With Telkom being cancelled at the end of this month, iburst lacking customer service and their seemingly shoddy latency. Neotel requiring way too much dosh, mtn and cellc with equally poor signal and latency and Vodacom being barely usable despite a tiny pocket of lte coverage near my street, it seems that I've run out of viable options :/.

All I want to do is download under 50 gigs a month and play some moba online with a ping that doesn't exceed 300ms.
Seems I'll have to relocate for this to happen or take a chance and get an iburst router to test with.

get a wireless ISP. Neotel is mostly corporate and people that can afford R1000 and more every month.

Their LTE solution is great and very stable, but the cheapest is R999 a month with R500 once-off installation. Higher plans, the installation cost goes a little more (R1700).

I'm sure you can find a wireless ISP in the cape for around R500 or R700 a month...
