Applied on 23 January 2009 @ a 2nd time @ NeoTel offices here in Durban Road (Bellville) since I stay 2 kays away from them.
Telkom was supposed to do a Closer 3 install for me on 20 January 2009 , did'nt happen as technician's kid got sick and he took the child to hospital (got called about this the morning of that day)
Got a call on 21 January 2009 stating that install will now happen on 22 January 2009.
Got a call on 22 January 2009 from same technician who was supposed to do the install on 20 January 2009 telling me that technical problem with the line exists , that it was allocated out of Bellville Exchange instead of Tygervalley Exchange (I stay across from Tygervalley Centre)
Got call after 5 on 22 January 2009 stating that technician has managed to provision the correct port and that he will be at my place on 23 January 2009 to do the install at 08h15.
Waited for technician till 09h00 and then only when I called him did I hear that his kid is back in hospital , we set a new installation for 26 January 2009 and then I left.
Decided whilst going down Durban Road to pop in at Neotel and re-apply for a service , decided on a NeoConnect Lite 199 option (after 30 plus minutes of finding my place on the coverage map , I filled in all the forms)
As I leave Neotel , Telkom technician's supervisor calls to say that he (supervisor) can do the install in 15 minutes time , I tell him about the hassle just to get them to commit to a date that they can deliver on and to cancel (2nd time now I've cancelled a Telkom service since they only seem to want to work between 08h00 and 16h30)
Heres hoping Neotel can deliver service to me by 28 January 2009 with no issues , did not sign a debit order , stated cash / eft payments and reserved a number for myself (021810XXXX)
Hope the bloke who let me sign the docs follows up that their vetting system can actually vet me since it did'nt do it when we were trying to finalise the service.
Pity they don't offer cordless handsets as part of their offering , ie like the Telkom Ultimate range.
Anyhow , till they phone me to arrange delivery ...
1st time I applied for service with Neotel was for a NeoConnect Prime 5G which incidentally did not have coverage in the 1/2 of the complex that I was living in , however since I've now moved to the other side of the complex , coverage exists.
So lets wait and see.
In the meanwhile , they say calling Telkom landlines from Neotel is cheaper than Telkom to Telkom , any truth in this and has anyone had a billshock as yet?
