Neotel sucks. It's that simple.

I've been using Neotel for quite a while now, we actually have 2 neotel prime uncapped accounts at my home.

For the past week or so, it has been impossible to do anything with the service.
It is slower than dialup!

This is exactly how iBurst started, I was very happy at first, and then service levels went down the toilet.
Is there too much traffic on my "exchange"? Is there a problem with the Neotel networks?

This is ridiculous, can't even surf! (I'm at work now BTW).

Can the Neotel rep please comment if there is any interference in the Senderwood area?

My signal on the device has dropped to 2 bars, when it has always been at a constant maximum.
I have never had a problem with the service before, bar a few adhoc circumstances which are to be expected.

I definitely do NOT need an external antennae unless one of their towers that I was using has moved.

Get your act together Neotel.

I Give up, there simply is no good answer

I have tried DSL, and iBurst, and lately Neotel.

There is simply no effective answer.

Telkom is brilliant when their cables aren't disappearing down the road in the back of a new age miner's bakkie (also when its winter and the lightning don't make you cough for a new router ever two months).

iBurst started out OK, but over a period of 18 months degenerated into less than dial up as a result of "envelopes" and connection sharing.

Neotel also started out OK, but now after 4 months, they are starting to look a bit like iBurst with connection drops every 1 minute for periods up to 12 hours, and with a "speed test" coming down from 2.1 mega bits to 500 kilo bits on a GOOD DAY.

The cell people are too expensive for always on, and are in any event subject to their own challenges when there are too many connections / too little air waves / a hiccup in the system.

I give up! Maybe dial up actually is the only real answer?

dude, if you in midrand, you cant dial up, more than likely cables stolen, so neotel is your best option, until 3G comes down in price, that is.

I'll admit it sucks when it takes 3 minutes to download a 1 minute youtube video.
If they maintain/upgrade their networks so I can have something to look fwd to then I'd be content.

0.19Mb/s download. 0.19!!! Seriously, I am appalled! A ping of 1181ms to Johannesburg. I'm in Johannesburg! I'd be horrified if I got that in Helsinki...
I'd love to hear from the neotel rep what is happening. Because, as sure as the sun will rise, I will take my business elsewhere. And so will a whole bunch of people, without a doubt! So if losing customers is a new form of business model, this crap needs to be sorted out soon. Seriously. Seriously.

I'm having a ton of line disconnects, ghost connections then it deteriorates to no connection at all. If I get 10 minutes out of a day that's a lot (it seems the only time to stay connected longer than 10 mins is at 2am in the mornig - iamravingmad...

Senderwood has problems, should be up by now, it was part of the IP challenge as well as ring down.

Let me know if it is still the same!

Hugo

Still the exact same, will report if there are any changes.
Phoned in today, apparently a base tower got struck by lightning over a week ago, giving reason for the terrible service.

BTW, this isn't an attack on the user "Neotel" on this forum (the rep), I really appreciate what he does.
This is an attack on Neotel the company.

Hi Well .. i am in the Northern Suburbs in Cape Town and i am having the same problem... its just not reliable and there network creates errors which you can be billed for! I have already made arangemnts for my DSL line just waiting for the phone line to be put in. Good luck to everyone hanging on to Neotel ... I do respect the rep who try's to sort things out on these forums.

But "Neotel"..rep ... You look like you fighting a one man war! ... maybe its time you get a job at Telkom doing the same thing! ....

Alright, absolutely no improvement.

Hugo, please could you PM me or display here correct measures for cancelling this useless service.
Neotel (the company), you're probably worst than iBurst. You completely stay true to typical South African stereotypical service levels.
Well done for failing so amazingly.

Hi Hugo
I may as well to piggy back my problems on this thread, but connection is really struggling at our location the last few days.
the Data flex router that is connected to the external antenna, the signal strength fluctuates between red/orange and occasionally green and the internet is not so stable, jams every now and then.

the voice calls on the lite, just horrendous, dropping most calls. Looks like an overall signal degeneration?

I could email you but not sure if you are checking or ignoring emails this week?
