Neotel Tips/Tricks Thread

A customer shouldn't beg or plead, you are a paying customer not a begger, act like a begger and you will be treated like one, act like a concerned paying customer and you will get a much better response.

Nope
I tried being the nice customer in the beginning, but all that got me was a month of silence no response at all..

Spent most fo Sunday running a few tests.

Overall there seems to be a bandwidth problem on the tower I am on. No matter what I did I could not get over 100Kbps. Even if I take the antennae out of line of teh tower it stayed about the same, so that tells me that on the backhaul there was either contention or not available bandwidth. I have in the past had speeds greater than what I was getting.

Horizantle vs Vertical Polarisation. There was a slight signal drop and higher latency when I tried the Antennae on horizantle polarisation, so it looks as if my tower is in fact vertically polarised like I was told.

As far as Antennae diversity is concerned. I could not get this working at all on the Bios update I was using. Want to take this up with the Neotel rep.

I also tried the 2nd tower, but had continual connection drops on it.

Getting the Netflex conencted to a unix server as a USB device has not happened yet. Ran out of time on that test.

Anyway . I have time this weekend ( after 2 hours of overtime on Sat ).

Things I want to try as I have the loan unit and my friends antennae which needs to go back to him on Sunday ( Think he is getting ready to cut my nuts off lol ) .

1. Try get both on different towers and see if there is some load balancing that takes place or not.
2. Try get some solid results for any differences with one antenna on one tower and both antennae on the one tower. I have had both on one tower for this week, but havent run any solid tests.
3. Try run tests for the polarisation of the Antennae. I was told it is supposed to be vertical, but I have seen posts where people have been getting better results with horizantle polarisation and that some towers are apparently horizantally polarised.
3. Get the Netflex device working to a linux box via USB so I can create my own connection so I can play with network settings. Been looking at how the device connects with it's inbuilt os and think I may have found a problem or at least an area that may be able to be improved on. Sadly the device itself is pretty sad from a number of aspects. I am not yet prepared to open it up and see if it can take a 3rd party OS due to the 24 month contract and them not likely to want it back after I have had my screwdriver in there :D
