I've heard a few of my colleagues say that Neotel will deliver access via microwave if there is no fibre infrastructure available.

I live a few blocks from their DC in Cape Town and when I called to ask about access I literally got the phone put down on me saying that there is no fibre where I am.

How does one find out if microwave is available? does anyone have an account manager I can call up? so I don't get put through 20 times again.

It will be best to work through a Neotel Reseller. They have inside channels and you pay the same listed prices. The reseller gets commission from Neotel. If you need help pm me.

I heard they put up microwave links while they trench to you, maybe it can become a permanent link, not sure. We took a 100Mb fibre line with RSAWeb and the last 400m is going over microwave, fibre will be floated in this week, test float was done this morning.
Licensing for these devices are expensive though, R40 000 per device or around there, but we did not cover those costs as the units are going to be removed as soon as the fibre is in.

I have a Microwave Link from Neotel. Very happy with it.

Installation is very professional, Equipment used is "Cambridge Broadband Networks". Antenna runs on the licensed band (20Ghz).

You get the same quality/treatment and pricing as Fibre. I upgrade the speed once and It was done quickly (three days). Now i'm upgrading the speed again as Neotel is reducing the price.

You also get 5 Public IP's and the connection is 100% symmetrical.

Downtime? During the last year, only once for 10 minutes and it was fixed quickly.
