Neotel WTF!

Update

All my moaning has resulted in my device being delivered today - as a matter of fact, the courier company has just called me to confirm my address and such - the guy said I should have it within a hour.
 
Are you going to leave this thing on at home D/L 24/7?

With the whole limited wireless thing, I was thinking it would be handy taking it to work everyday, then home again in the evenings to be left on overnight. Also worth checking what the reception at work is like... Maybe even leave it there overnight:D
 
Device has arrived... I might be keen to try it at home and at work... I live fairly close to home anyways... *grin*

I know your pain. I expected a fair bit of hunger from Neotel but to my surprise ... nothing. I would not give the unit back though. Its not as fast as when I was testing the prime 255kbs average, (got the neoflex for the upload speed factor.) But, it has the fastest wireless LAN connection I have ever seen, (didn't expect that)

gdiza, I'm surprised @ ur speeds bro:eek:So u are in an 'excellent coverage' area, aren't u???? Cos the way I see it they check ur coverage first before even signing u up.

What dload manager are u using? I'm using IDM @ the mo and was contemplating moving over to DAP, but with IDM i'm getting ok speeds (min of 80KB).

The 'device' is showing 4 bars, yes?
 
Maybe I haven't set it up properly...

I'm also using the NeoConnect Manager... anything I must do with this thing other than use it to connect?

I paid the deposit as telkoms could not give me a line, why would you make such an assumption? The deposit is the biggest line of bull I ever heard of in my life, I have 2 Private Bankers and can buy a Porsche/Audi R8 if I want on top of the three other cars I have, but hey neotel says I need to pay a deposit.

Please note I am not bragging as ten years ago I earned about R800p/m when I started out if I was lucky and I worked for what I have, so when someone tells me something about bad credit i get really peeved.
 
I got a test account for international newsgroups and getting 100kb on it.

Any other freaking downloads I do I get 20kb!

Hi, I must say this is odd. I am still "testing" out my unit and the only time I saw anything that slow it was overcast outside; and I was downloading NVidia's latest card drivers on the day they were released. Speed jumped up to 20kb/s after a minute or so.

Could I suggest something, if you can place your device away from any metal or magnets just to check. Ie on top of your cupboard as opposed to the fridge. Forgot if you have Neoflex or Prime will check your original posts. Since I had both, I always put unit as far up as is practical and away from metal or electrical cords.
