has anyone tried gaming on neotel at all? any chance of a test to compare pings and latency what with it being wireless and all. just curious as im getting a bit g*tvol of the beast and was wondering fir nevertell would be a better option. if they ever offer a service in durbs that is

Don't bet on good local latency, the very best you might get is 100ms. It depends on what games you play. FPS won't run that well but games like WOW and GuildWars should run just as well as on ADSL. Ping spikes should be expected tho.

Getting Neotolly @ my office soon... might bring my PC around here and try out some local TF2 and international lotro to see how it goes.

wicked. i dont play fps games. mainly the odd bit of nwn if i get any time at all so speed isnt that important and as long as i get sub 600ms im sorted. so was thinking of their low end uncapped one. like i said, speed aint really an issue i just hate getting capped which unfortunately happens quite a bit (has anyone noticed how little 1gb actually is?)

If you play Guild Wars you should have an interesting time trying to play an interrupter...

Played TF2 with a ~200 ping [64k wireless] and it was pretty playable, DODS is playble with a ~200 ping aswell not too sure on other games. CSS I know it's horrible even with a 100 ping. GW is playable up to about 500 for most caster classes, after that just spam and pray ;)

I know a few people playing AA on 64k & BF2 on a 256k wireless connection. It's all fine at about 80-200 but lag spikes kind of kill it :(

Actually someone on neotel supposedly got a 400 steady ping on guildwars with very little lag spikes (not sure where they were situated though), and 400 is better than i got when i played :/ on shaped adsl

Err - just remember.
If you are playing WoW or Guild Wars or whatever, and your mom phones you, there goes your game...

I get 300-350ms on shaped DSL and I can't play an interrupter. The problem is that often one has to interrupt spells that have a 0.5-1 second casting time. By the time I actually see they're casting a spell much of the casting time is over.

Well... Fine... :D

Well it still should be fine for everything else, just try not to be a teams vital, die-without healer
