Deben...
I've ordered the lite uncapped package mid December, and started it from the 1st of January. Managed to get internet connection sharing to work after several hours...

The net connection drops or disappears often to the point that i have to reboot the pc i hooked it up to. Today i lost my cool because sites just won't load. I figured its because its in a bad spot, so i moved it into this room and hooked it up directly to my pc.

Now that i got it working, the service seems faster, but noticed the software that comes with it is not compatable with Windows 7, keeps telling me the system is out of memory!!!! (There's is 8gigs of ram and 13% used damit). (not their fault.) After 2 hours of fiddling managed to trick the stupid thing to dial the connection. ARG...

Overall i'm not that impressed. Its not what i expected, and certainly worse than i expected! Its like going back into the dark ages with this fugly device!. Dialup!... I'm going to carry on with it for a little while longer. But am SO tempted to cancel! After all the hassels, I doubt even the Prime service is worth this frustration!

I honestly don't think that you get to complain about the fact that it's not compatible with an unreleased OS. I mean think about it... the vendors haven't even had a chance to update their products...

I wonder what the Neoflex device is going to be like? Hopefully a lot better. What are your speeds like now?

Have to agree with dotnerd, Windows 7 hasn't been publicly released as RTM let alone beta.

as i said, NOT THEIR FAULT! I said so in the initial post. I'm talking about the Quality of the service in general. Besides, Even on XP & Vista I have the same issues with the device disappearing or dropping connection every few minutes, web pages not loading or taking forever to load!

Hi im also in the durban area(reservoir hills) but im running neotel prime uncapped with no problems , sometimes the connection drops but thats very rare and the speeds are good , maybe you are far away from the tower...

Hi Matrixweb - I have perfect line of sight with the tower, its dead ahead of me not even 1 Km away!.

im going to add a 3rd thing..

3. Your operating system

I had endless problems with the device coming and going with Windows. One day I tried it in my laptop and it works 100% without dropping once. Its kinda like how some windows pc's work fine with a USB stick and another one wont detect the same stick.

Also, make sure you do NOT tick Dial-on Demand and Re-dial if connection dropped together.

What happens then is your line drops for whatever reason, and the 30sec (or whatever) countdown starts. But windows detects demanding connections so it forces the line up. Then when the countdown is right, windows tries to dial the already-active connection.

At this point, i noticed that everything goes awry in windows and the device just reports a "device or resource busy" everytime you try to use it after that. until you next re-plug it.

Also make sure you're not disconnecting when idle.

And finally, when you make or receive a call, pretty windows will usually drop the connection because of its horrendously coded dialer subsystem that is not happy with a 1kbps handshake.

In another thread I complained about Autopage, well today I finally got my line activated at around 12pm. I have had average of 180Kb/s downloads since then. Am already more than half way into a 9 gig download. I have four months to make up for:-)
