The Neotel part of the forum has been dead for a while now. Anyone on myBB still with Neotel??
I'm an ex-Noetel customer and occasional visit this section to 'catch up' on the latest Neotel frustration :D

oops... spelled Neotel wrong in the title. My bad...

Who is Neotel
Think they are dead and buried

You read it here first:
Breaking News:Cell C CEO reaches into ticki pocket to buy Neotel.

Neotel are not dead. Theyre undead. Except not so cool. They keep reaching out from beyond the grave to hassle me a year after I cancelled with them.

Neotel = Sad story.

In the consumer space they are still as shocking as they ever were.
For business, we have a number of fibre's providing us with service. So far so good :)

Yep they still are quite alive. I have the NeoFlex services...not using it for much (browsing, watching YouTube videos, FIFA PS3 gaming, emails)

NeoTel failed all consumers of South Africa so the forum is evident of that.

NeoTel SUCKS and they really should be reffered to as NeoFail.

In bold letters too. Is that the same as caps but less annoying?

@OP: Yeah, in the consumer space I think they're pretty dead. I expect a few stragglers are still hanging on, but I think they've done a pretty good job at chasing away the bulk of their customers.

Seems they're becoming more (I should I say strictly) business focused. I think there's a large gap in the market for Telkom competition in SA households but from my experience with Neotel, their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Although, Hugo has been helpful on this forum. Sometimes.

When my contract was almost up there were 'promises' of WiMax but I decided to rather jump ship as soon as I could as there was no clarity of when I would actually be upgraded from Prime to WiMax. I also previously heard rumours of fibre to home from Neotel one day but yeah...

They started off with a bang and so much promise to us 'little' consumers but seem to have faded into a state of almost nothingness in barely just over 2 years (imo). I was one of their first 'signings' in mid 2008 and their support initially appeared to be 'world class' but it didn't take long to become just another (irritated/frustrated) number.

Hmmm. . .

The Neotel Rep did a good job in chasing away the forumites from this forum as well.

I'm on Neotel Wimax and I'm very happy...Yes it may be a business service but their speeds are way better than anything I had with ADSL!!

I just got my WiMax Installed on Friday after using 4mb DSL for 4 years and I am impressed. beats anything telkom has to offer.

He definitely helped the non-renewal of my contract go smoothly ;)
His responses to the issues raised on the forum were rather erratic though.

Ok... I went from Prime Uncapped to 384 ADSL (yes, 384!) in April this year and I don't regret it so far. Yes, 384 is much 'slower' but suits my needs just fine.
What speeds do you guys get on WiMax, what are the associated caps and the cost? If you guys don't mind sharing...

Costing is highish as it is a Business based product at the moment, but if you are high-end ADSL user then the neotel offering is worth it.

It starts with 1mb Uncapped/Unshaped, where upload is very close to 1mb as well. Link to a thread with more info http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/267323-Neotel-Wimax-Latency-Test-requests

Latency is very low and speeds are very constant. I have just went from 4mb Uncapped ADSL to this 1mb product after 4 years and so far, I am much happier with the stability and the service.
