NeoTokyo
There is a new source mod out (for about a month now) called NeoTokyo, inspired by the anime series called "Ghost in the Shell". NeoTokyo is a multiplayer only game. It is futuristic shooter that takes place in Japan.
Currently it has only one game mode called Capture the Ghost. Similar to capture the flag only that the flag is the top half of a female robot. The objective is to get the "Ghost" to your teams Retrieval Zone located near the other teams spawn. Also it is sudden death...this does put off some gamers.
Each team (Jinrai and NSF) have three classes to choose from: Recon, Assault and Support.
Recon:
Recon is a lightly armoured class that has Therm-Optic (92% transparency similar to BF 2142) and AUX power (your stamina) which is only used up when jumping and not sprinting. Recon class also has a detpack and Nightvision and can perform long leaps.
Assault:
Assault class has AUX and Therm-Optic, however AUX is also used up by sprinting and the class cannot perform leaps as the recon class can. The class has a frag grenade and motion Vision. It has medium armour.
Support:
Support class has no AUX power or Therm-Optic. It does have smoke grenades and thermal vision which allows it to see through the smoke. It has heavy armour.
Guns and the Ghost:
The game has a total of 12 guns. Now of these 12 guns: Recon has access to 9, Assualt has access to 12, and Support has access to 8. However some guns can only be unlocked when you are a higher XP. Also your XP reset before each game to give everyone a fair chance. You gain XP by killing the enemy of course, capturing the ghost or surviving the round. Now the guns work on the principle “mag dump”, so if you still had some bullets in the mag, it won’t get carried over to the next mag if you reload.
Now in order to pickup the Ghost you have to sacrifice your main weapon leaving you with a pistol. However if equip the Ghost you get to see enemy positions in a 45m radius regardless of walls.
The game as said before is only multiplayer so it is hard to get accurate results of how good the game play is in terms of quality and fun. There are bots in the game which you can get by typing "bot_add" in console. Although they do move, they don't shoot nor do the move far from spawn (unless playing map: Isolated) so it is a waste unless playing on a server. I want to see if we can get a community going for the game if it is popular amongst you guys but I'm not sure as it is capture the flag and sudden death in one.
