Nest Thermostat installation in SA

Hi gurus

Has anyone replaced their aircon thermostat with a Google Nest device? looking for help on wiring installation.

Checked with Nest support and they say the wiring I have is proprietary so they cannot help. Its a Samsung aircon and controller.

I don't think SA has thermostats in the way the rest of the world has thermostats. I could be wrong but here in the UK most focus on heating, not cooling and from a central point, not per device.

Does the AC have a central control unit?
If not, you need to look at an IR blaster solution instead, Nest won't work on IR remote controlled ACs.

The AC is heating and cooling - the issue I have is identifying the wiring

The current controller is a SAMSUNG MWR-WH01 AIR CONDITIONER

Hhhmm, I'm sure it's possible - should just be a case of identifying the correct wires in the wall. Have you taken a look to see what's available?

I'm sure you've checked already, but here's a guide Nest have on their site.

If it was me, I'd see if I can identify the wiring in my no0b state. If I can't find it I'd contact an electrician or AC tech. Shout if you need a recommendation on either

Bump... Has anyone used this nest learning thermostat here in SA?

Looking at getting a smart Thermostat, currently have the carrier KJR-12B, but it's not smart at all.

I do understand the nest will need a transformer to function.
But still not sure if the wiring will tie up correctly, since the current one uses A, B, C, D, E wiring. Any suggestions?

Seems you will need to remove electonics in main unit and figure out how to connect nest via relays .

Check to wires page from owner's manual for this model:
