Developer – All-rounder/multi-faceted
Job Brief
Industrial Data Xchange (www.idx.co.za) is looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual for the position of contributing to product development and support of our principle software platform, known as IDX. Industrial Data Xchange’s development arm specialises in industrial communications solutions and projects, which includes back-end software components as well as an embedded hardware solutions which are considered as Industrial Internet-of-Things-class of devices (IIOT device) for niche/specialist industrial type applications.
Role Requirements

• Work in a small team of developers but also solo on projects when the need arises.
• Interpret technical requirements, propose technical solutions, as well as implement those solutions in line with the company strategy after suitable consultation with the development team on a collaborative basis.
• Assist with development project implementations and management, day-to-day operations and customer interaction.
• Maintain existing codebase and design methodologies but also embrace learning new technologies that fit with the company strategy.
• Be creative and ready to share ideas with passion and enthusiasm, able to defend a view while valuing input of others even when the idea is challenged.
• Fit the IDX work ethic and culture.

Candidate Requirements:

• All-rounder that excels in a small-business environment.
• Personal integrity and willingness to self-manage but contribute in team setting to the success of others.
• Good troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving skills are essential.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Proficient, demonstrable knowledge of and experience in C/C++ and/or C# development. Other languages, cloud platforms and technologies will be advantageous.
• Experience with industrial automation systems and/or communication systems is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience with embedded hardware and electronics is advantageous but not essential.
• Valid driver’s license and passport.

Salary Range (guideline)

• Junior (0-3 years of experience): R300k-R450k
• Skilled (3+ years of experience): R450k-R800k
