If there are any owners of Internet Cafe's here - which ISP do you use, and which account? Or if there is anyone here who knows what certain iCafe's use?

Seems with the new prices from Telkom many net cafe's will go under.. is there an affordable option for them?

I suppose they could use the uncapped accounts @ ~R1400 from IS although when I went to an iCafe the other day near Cavendish, I could play games online with a ping between 30ms-60ms.

I know one Cafe is currently using the Telkom un-capped account like yourself but has a SAOL account as backup.

Before i had to close mine down( and no unfortunately it wasnt Telkoms fault :D ) I was using WebAfricas uncapped shaped account. If i was still running i think i may just be screwed anyway. If i took 2 10 gig accounts at the rough equivilent of what uncapped cost me then,i would probably have had to restrict my customers to surfing and email. i.e tell gamers and people wnating to down load largish files sorry. I may be wrong because i never really kept track of bandwidth usage because Web africa didnt keep us informed of usage at the time. Also i would be a bit concerned about the the reset times , though SAOL do offer an option to get around them.

One of my clients uses Imaginets Freestyle 5000 package. Its not too bad price wise. Before he was using 3 telkom accounts :o. I fear the day one of his PC's gets a viral infection though. Can you imagine that bill!. I blocked all outgoing port 25 connections, but you never know ;)

Cheers

Net cafe's actually do not need a ton of Gb's. Most ppl who go there go because they have no access to email and are not going to go sit and DL it is just to go look at their webmail and browse.

ODS Account

Using an ODS uncapped account with 5 public ip's.
Will be putting up a game server soon
