what exactly is this..... how do i close port 139 without a firewall, can i disable some service??

port 139 is used for Windows File Sharing. If you are alone on the network, and are only connecting to the Internet, I suggest turning it off.

Just a question though. What OS are you running without a Firewall? Are you mad? Even Windows Firewall is better than nothing. Plenty free firewalls you can use. Even free Operating Systems with built in Firewalls. If you are stressed about a single port, you should be running a firewall.

i have windows firewall enabled, i was just interested to know if it was possible. thanx though.
what about netbios-ssn

It is possible to turn it "off"

Just go to networking connections select the LAN adapter and remove the tick next to Client for Microsoft Networks...

Beware you will then be unable to share files or access them.
