Okay, so I've had a Samsung RV510 for a while now, and I can't find my slip to return it to have it looked at. Basically, the keyboard layout is farked. The actual keys do not correspond with the physical keyboard layout.

The physical keyboard layout is normal, but the buttons are swapped like this;

Buttons encircled in red are switched around.
Buttons in purple simply do not exist. There are physical buttons for them on the keyboard, but they do nothing when pressed. This means I essentially do not have a tilde key and I do not have a backslash key.

I've tried seeing if the keyboard layout might be switched, but the regional settings only has UK in them, and that's what it's currently set to.

Any idea what might be causing this? It's been like this from the start, but originally I was only aware that the @ key was swapped with the quotation marks, so I didn't think it was such a big deal. I'm kinda stumped on this one. If worst comes to worst, I can live with it, but it would be nice to save myself the annoyance.

You must go further in regional settings change language and there is an option to change to US settings. Also select prefered language English South African. Its such a simple fix you gonna kick yourself. Good luck

Oh my goodness, you're right! All this time I've only been mucking around with the keyboard settings when the fix was right there under my nose. Can't believe I didn't even think of it.

Thanks man! It's been annoying me for the last two months now. :p

Be glad he did not charge you :D

A few years ago a friend called me and told me their IT guy wanted to charge them some stupid money for a new laptop keyboard because he could not fix the problem. The problem was exactly the same as your's which I helped her to fix over the phone in under minute. How do people like this survive in the IT industry?

My friend's brother runs a IT shop from home, and I slept over there a while back. While I was there, a lady came in to have her external HDD formatted, and he charged her R100. I was like, :wtf:

I wanted to tell her she was being blatantly ripped off, but I don't really want trouble with my friend or his brother.
