So I'm looking for netbook for around R2500. Battery life being of primary importance.

i have a HP mini 1.8 dual core 6cell battery that has a great battery life about 6 hours
and a msi wind 1.6 dual core 3 cell battery that has a bad battery life about 2 hours
purely for staying in touch while travelling both are ok
handy in airports around the world , free wifi .. most any way

Whatever you choose, you'd want to look at a 6-cell battery. I have the Samsung N150+ and I can get 6-8 hours plus on it.

Another option is the IdeaPad S Series
It do break your R2500 budget though. It is priced generally below R3000

I got the LG X170. Has an Atom N455, 1GB RAM (Which I replaced with 2GB), 320 GB hard drive, Wireless N, Bluetooth (3.0 apparently), card slot, 3 USB 2 ports. 6-cell battery that lasts about 4.5 hours depending what you do. About 2-3 hours if you watch movies or play games. It's quite well built (definitely much better than LG laptops), and one of the better looking netbooks out there. You can also get it with a dual-core Atom N550.

I don't know why netbooks are so overpriced in SA. I paid R1999 for mine from CNA a few months ago but for some reason a pricecheck shows it near R3000 now.

Just one thing, most netbooks come with Windows 7 32-bit Starter edition, which is largely useless especially with all the bloatware on. That's why I replaced it with 64 bit Ultimate, which runs just fine with 2GB RAM.

Can highly recommend the Acer Aspire One D255E model which my local retailer agreed to discount down for me to R2500 with 2 GB of RAM and a 320 GB HDD (specifically this specification version is PAV70). Solid, nicely-built piece of kit which is fast for a netbook, with the added advantage of an 'instant boot' into Android supplied on a separate partition for stuff like email, web browsing, playing MP3s, looking at photos etc. Thin for a netbook too, but the screen is 10.1" and glossy if that bothers you.
